The TEA on Mexican Coffee Tariffs and our customers

Ok, Heres the tea honey bee.

I wanted to take a moment to talk about something that’s been weighing on us lately—something you probably haven’t seen in the headlines but is definitely affecting small businesses like ours: tariffs on Mexican coffee.

As of now, a 25% tariff is being placed on green coffee beans imported from Mexico into the U.S. That’s right—twenty-five percent. If you’re not in the coffee world, that might not sound like much. But trust me, it adds up fast.

For us at Castor & Pollux, this hits close to home. We’re deeply rooted in honoring Latino coffee culture, and Mexican beans are a huge part of that. These aren't just products to us—they’re part of our identity, our story, and our mission.

So what does that mean for us—and more importantly, for you?

We’ve had some real conversations behind the scenes. Yes, these tariffs make things harder. Yes, they increase our costs significantly. But here’s the deal: we’re not going to pass those costs on to you.

We believe that good coffee should still be accessible. We believe that you shouldn’t have to pay the price for international politics. And we’re committed—fiercely—to making sure that the burden doesn’t fall on our community.

Instead, we’re tightening our margins, looking for creative ways to stay sustainable, and doubling down on what we’ve always believed in: quality, culture, and connection.

So when you brew a cup of our Mexican roast, know this—it’s more than just coffee. It’s resilience. It’s pride. It’s us doing everything we can to make sure you’re getting a product that’s crafted with care, despite the challenges behind the scenes.

Thanks for sticking with us. Thanks for choosing coffee with heart.

Always,Danny Jimenez
